2012 Drink Recipe Contest Update

Vodka Recipes:

Uffda Punch
1 cup Rhubarb Vodka
9 cups Water
4 Lipton’s Tea Bags
2 cups Sugar
1 can Frozen Orange Juice (thawed)
1 can Frozen Lemonade (thawed)
2 six packs Fresca or Sierra Mist

Makes 40 - 50 drinks
Boil tea bags with two cups of the water. Set aside and let cool. Boil the remaining 7 cups of water with 2 cups of sugar. Bring to boil and remove from heat. Set aside and let cool to room temperature. Once sugar mixture is cool add the Orange Juice and the Lemonade. Add water from the tea and squeeze tea bags. Add Vodka or Gin. Stir together and Freeze over night. Serve in a highball and top with about 2 oz. of Fresca or Sierra Mist.

(You can also freeze it without the liquor and add the booze as you add the Fresca or Sierra Mist)

Passion Fruit Vodka Smoothie
Serves 2 to 4
3 cups small ice cubes
1 cup passion-fruit nectar
1/4 cup vodka
1/4 cup half-and-half
2 tablespoons Cointreau
1 splash orange juice
1 splash coconut cream (optional)
Fresh passion-fruit seeds, for garnish
Place ice, passion-fruit nectar, vodka, half-and-half, Cointreau, orange juice, and coconut cream, if using, in a blender. Blend until smooth. Adjust consistency by adding more ice or juice as needed. Garnish with passion-fruit seeds, and serve immediately.

Lakota
1 oz Chokecherry Vodka
½ oz Midori
1 oz Pineapple Juice
Serve in: martini glass

Fill a shaker with ice. Pour in the vodka, Midori, and pineapple juice. Fill a shaker with ice. Pour in the vodka, Midori, and pineapple juice. Shake, then strain into a martini glass.

Buffalo Herd
1 ½ oz Rhubarb Vodka
10 oz Sobe® No Fear energy drink

Put 1 shot of Rhubarb Vodka into a highball glass. Then fill the rest of the glass with Sobe® No Fear Energy Drink.

Dakota Twister
2 oz Rhubarb Vodka
5 oz Mountain Dew

Out of a 20 oz bottle of Mountain Dew, empty enough of it so that the bottle's contents are directly below the first bump line from the top. Fill to the top with Rhubarb Vodka. Mix lightly and enjoy.

Maple River Cooler
2 oz Rhubarb Vodka
4 oz Lemon-Lime Soda

Pour the Rhubarb Vodka and soda into a highball glass almost filled with ice cubes. Stir well, and serve.

Mandan Slush
7 oz Frozen Limeade
7 oz Rhubarb Vodka
7 oz Water
Ice
Blend equal parts of limeade, rhubarb vodka, and water in a blender. Add in ice, and blend to slushiness desired. More ice makes it slushier. Officially, a margarita calls for tequila instead of the vodka, with a splash of triple sec. No one notices the absence of the triple sec and many people prefer the taste of vodka.


Rhubarb Releaser
1 oz Rhubarb Vodka
1 oz Hpnotiq® liqueur
2 oz 7-Up Soda
2 oz Cranberry-Raspberry Juice

Build over ice. Stir and serve.

Choke Coke
2 oz Chokecherry Vodka
5 oz Coca-cola

Theodore Roosevelt
1 oz Chokecherry Vodka
1 oz Bailey's® Irish cream
1/2 oz raspberry liqueur
2 oz cream
1 splash grenadine syrup

Blend all the ingredients with 8 ice cubes (like a mudslide). Pour in a glass rimmed with red-colored sugar, top with whipped cream and sprinkle with red colored sugar.

Dakota Fog
2 oz Rhubarb Vodka
1 oz Kahlua
1 oz Light Cream
Serve in a martini glass

Fill a shaker with ice. Add all the ingredients. Shake well, that that the cream is fully mixed in. Pour into a martini glass.

Medora Madness
1 1/4 oz Rhubarb Vodka
12 oz Pina colada mix (pref. bacardi)
1/4 oz Pureed Raspberries
1 scoop ice

Pour pureed raspberries into glass. Blend 1 1/4 oz. Rhubarb Vodka, 12 oz. pina colada mix, and 1 scoop of ice until smooth, pour over pureed raspberries in glass - serve with straw and stir stick.

Wild Prairie Rose
4 oz Chokecherry Vodka
6 oz V8® Splash Raspberry Lemonade
2 - 3 Splashes Grenadine Syrup

Place desired amount of ice in a highball glass. Pour in Smirnoff raspberry twist vodka, followed by raspberry lemonade V8 splash. Add two to three splashes of grenadine, stir and serve.

Meadow Lark
1 oz Rhubarb Vodka
1/2 oz Peach Schnapps
1 oz Orange Juice
2 1/2 oz Pink Lemonade

Stir ingredients together in a highball glass filled with ice cubes, and serve.

Casselton Cosmo
1 oz Chokecherry Vodka
½ oz Cointreau
1 oz cranberry juice
½ lime juice
Twist of orange or lemon peel
Serve in: martini glass

Fill shaker with ice. Add the vodka, Cointreau, cranberry juice, and lime juice. Shake. Strain into a martini glass. Drop in the orange/lemon twist.

Dakota Sunrise
1 oz Chokecherry Vodka
5 oz Orange Juice
1 shot Grenadine Syrup
Mix vodka and orange juice in a highball glass. Top with grenadine, and serve.

Distillery Dream
3 oz Chokecherry Vodka
1 oz Chokecherry Brandy
1 oz lemon juice
1 oz orange juice
3 drops anfostura bitters
Club soda
Slice of orange
Serve in: highball

Fill a shaker with ice. Add all the ingredients except the club soda and orange slice. Shake. Strain into a highball filled with ice. Top off with club soda. Stir. Decorate with the orange slice.

Brandy Recipes:

Chokecherry blossom
2 oz Brandy
½ oz Chokecherry brandy
½ oz Cointreau
½ oz Lemon juice
1 tsp grenadine
Maraschino cherry
Serve in: Martini glass

Fill a shaker with ice. Add the brandy, chokecherry brandy, cointreau, lemon juice, and grenadine. Shake. Strain into a martini glass. Decorate with the cherry.

Brandy of the Midwest
1 oz Chokecherry Brandy
Dash of angostura bitters
Ginger ale
Twist of lemon peel
Serve in: highball

Fill a highball with ice. Pour in the brandy and bitters. Stir. Top off with ginger ale. Stir again. Decorate with the lemon twist.

Dakota Sour
2 oz Apple Brandy
1 oz Lemon juice
½ tsp superfine sugar
Maraschino Cherry
Slice of orange
Served in: Old-fashioned glass

Place the flavor brandy of choice, lemon juice, and sugar in a shaker filled with ice. Shake well. Strain into an Old-fashioned glass. Decorate with the cherry and orange slice.

Chokecherry Brandy is Dandy
2 oz Chokecherry Brandy
1 oz lemon juice
1 tsp grenadine
½ tsp superfine sugar
Maraschino cherry
Serve in: Old-fashioned glass

Place the brandy, lemon juice, grenadine, and sugar in a shaker filled with ice. Shake well. Strain in an Old-fashioned glass. Drop in the cherry to decorate.
